Why corded soap works in retail
The cord is not decoration. Hung, a bar drains and dries between uses instead of sitting in a pool of water, and it lasts noticeably longer as a result — a 240g oval on a cord will typically outlast two loose bars of the same soap. That is a concrete argument at the counter, and it is why corded soap is the format that converts customers who think natural soap “melts away”. It also merchandises vertically: hung on a rail or a hook strip, stock becomes display and takes almost no shelf depth.
Rope or cord — the same thing
“Soap on a rope” is the phrase British customers use and search for; cord is the more accurate description of what is actually fitted to these bars — a fine braided string rather than a thick rope. There is no difference in product or in function, so both terms are listed here.
Oval 240g on a cord
The largest and the best seller. Fourteen scents including Verveine Broyée, Lavender, Fleur de Coton, Huile d'Argan and Rose. Available in cases of 3 and cases of 6, so a broad scent selection does not mean deep stock. This is the one that sells by the kitchen sink and in the shower.
Galet 155g pebbles
Rounded, tactile bars scented with essential oils and built around a clay or botanical — Lavandin, Tea Tree & White Clay and Charcoal & Argan among them. The galet is the one to reach for when a customer asks for something naturally scented rather than perfumed.
Cigale 125g
The Provençal cicada — a regional icon that sells on looks alone, and the corded soap most likely to be bought as a souvenir or a small gift rather than for the bathroom. Available in Lavender, Chèvrefeuille and Huile d'Olive.
Heart 95g
Two corded hearts, and the most gift-led shape in the range: Red Heart (I Love You) and White Heart (Maman). The red sells for Valentine's and as an everyday romantic gift; the white is a Mother's Day line that also works year round alongside Family Name Soaps.
Tranche — the corded slice
A slice cut from the traditional block and corded: Small (approx 150g) and Large (approx 300g). Fragrance free and, in the green olive oil version, palm oil free — the corded option for customers who want the authentic unscented soap rather than a scented bar. Weights are approximate because each piece is genuinely cut, not moulded.
