Collection: Family Name Soaps

Nine 125g Marseille bars, each stamped with a French family name. The soap is the same quality bar as the core range — what changes is that it names its recipient. Supplied to UK trade by Natural Wholesale.

A gift that selects itself

The commercial value here is that the customer does not have to choose a scent, a size or a story. They are buying for Mum, and the bar says so. That makes this the range that sells at gift counters, in French-themed and interiors shops, and around Mother's Day, Father's Day, christenings and new babies — and it sells at a gift price rather than a soap price.

The nine names

Parents: Maman (Mummy) and Papa (Daddy).
Grandparents: Mamie (Granny) and Papi (Grandpa).
Aunt and uncle: Tatie and Tonton.
Godparents: Marraine (Godmother) and Parrain (Godfather) — a notoriously difficult gift category with very little else on the market.
Child: Minot, the Marseille word for a small child.

Stocking notes

Expect Maman and Papa to turn fastest and to carry the seasonal peaks; the grandparent and godparent names sell in smaller, steadier numbers year round. A sensible first order is depth on Maman and Papa and a single case of each of the rest, so the display reads as a complete family. Supplied unwrapped, by the case.
